Description'Bisclavret', and is a monotone oil painting on gesso primed art paper. It measures 16 x 12 inches, including a narrow blank border to allow for framing. It illustrates an old werewolf tale from Brittany - Ian Daniel's calls it 'the poisoned letter' painting as it is also an allegory representing the receiving of a heart-breaking letter/news. The woman having fainted, and the werewolf symbolizing the psychological or emotional devastation that haunts her.The piece has been presented in a few exhibitions along with others from Ian's 'Werewolves Collection', all of which have been published in the book 'Werewolves' by Dr Bob Curran Social/Sharing |
