Hal Foster - "Ah, Memory Lane!" Prince Valiant illustration original art (undated - 1960?)

A simply incredible piece of art. One of the most amazing specialty illustrations of Prince Valiant by Foster, it is highly detailed and even humorous! This work was published in some newspapers (1960?) and in 1984 used as the cover #9 comic magazine Nemo, a number dedicated to Foster.
Produced in ink over graphite on 10.5" x 14" Bristol board. Signed in the image area.

Hal Foster - "Ah, Memory Lane!" illustrazione originale Principe Valiant (senza data - 1960?)

Un pezzo incredibile, una delle rare illustrazioni speciali di Hal Foster per il suo personaggio Principe Valiant. Quest�opera fu realizzata appositamente per essere pubblicata su qualche quotidiano dell�epoca (anni 60�?) e successivamente, nel 1984, ripresa e utilizzata come copertina del n.9 della rivista a fumetti Nemo della Fantagraphics ,un numero dedicato appunto a Foster. Originale realizzato a china su cartoncino rigido 26 x 35 cm. Firmato in basso.

Fino agli inizi degli anni �30 il fumetto era generalmente a tema comico e destinato ad un pubblico adolescenziale. In assoluto Foster � stato il primo grande illustratore a realizzare un fumetto per un pubblico pi� adulto, il suo Tarzan � stato l�inizio di tutto, fonte di ispirazione per i successivi grandi fumettisti come Raymond, Frazetta, Williamson, solo per citarne alcuni. Per me possedere un pezzo di Foster equivale a possedere un pezzo di storia del fumetto mondiale.
