Description

This fabulous painting of 'Angelus and The Darkness' was created by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt for a Darkness comic cover in 1996. This is a great example of the Brothers Hildebrandt's use of light and color to create vibrant, powerful paintings like this one!

The embodiment of the Light and the opposing force of The Darkness, the Angelus is one of Jackie Estacado's mortal enemies. The Angelus retains the memories of all of her previous host's lives and has led many crusades against the Darkness in seeking to rid the world of her evil enemy.

Awesome composition to diagonally slice the painting in two, symbolic of the rift between their worlds! The lighting is so intense in this!

The lighting effect rendered by the colors is just unreal, man. Killer contrast with the top left and bottom right vs the center. And gorgeous face on the female character! I'm sure you've pored over lots, especially with the piece being how big it is! Congrats!

I saw this hanging behind your head in an interview on CAF+. I didn't know the characters, but it was obviously a Hildebrandt. Their use of color is unmistakable even from across the room. This one has a strong red/orange contrast scheme, like a film poster.
