DescriptionValeries Cooper’s role parallels Storm’s journey: both are women with power (or who once had power), confronting the fragility of control—Storm losing her powers; Val nearly losing her life despite her status. Although no X-Men on this page, BWS’s mastery in paneling and car chase action featuring a key plot connector character (and Rogue’s hand in the last panel) makes this a showcase only BWS can pull off so elegantly. Any page from this issue is great, simply because it is one of the most beautiful single issues ever produced of any comic.

In a single issue, BWS brought a glorious achievement in comics by breaking from the norm with a passionate story that changed what we thought of comics before. A great leap in superhero comics.
