DescriptionThis is a Doozy as a dealer we all know would say!Look- Rob Liefeld is divisive in this hobby… I know that , probably one of the most polarizing figures in the medium. Mostly you either love him or hate him. But not many can really deny the man’s impact on comics. Reviving a dying New Mutants title and turning it into the massive book X-force … creating Cable and Deadpool .. being a major part of the Image revolution and basically changing how comics are made because of that … he has left a huge imprint on the hobby and specifically in my favorite part of the Hobby.. the X-men world. Now everyone can debate his artistic talent , and lack of feet (notice I went for a footless piece!) but for those of us who were young and impressionable when he hit his stride, he hit like a tidal wave. The uniqueness and energy of those new mutant and xforce issues were undeniable! Now want to talk draftsmanship or anatomy and you can beat the art up.. but you can do the same for Tradd Moore .. but the energy in there art is similar. Now onto the piece.. I’ve wanted an example for a while . But the prices and getting the right piece have held me back. Until this was offered in a trade … the trade hurt.. a lot.. but this is one of my all time favorite splashes of his, and hysterically there is no heroes on it! Instead it is his version of the Brotherhood of Evil mutants … and how evil they look .. and how Liefeld they look! This is pure Liefeld , pencils and inks oh and also the birth page of another of his creations Phantazia… now she’s no Domino.. but 30 plus years later she’s still kicking around the Marvel Universe! Another little add we can thank Mr Liefeld for! Social/Sharing |

Great page! Nothing to apologize for. We collect comic art. It doesn't get more comic art than this!

this is so great - I usually would say "Where is Cable? Where is Deadpool? Where are the rest of the team?" but really this is the perfect of example of this era of Liefled! Success!

So..many...teeth. I loved this book too, Rob's enthusiasm for comics and his eschewing of ALL the rules made for such an exciting and entertaining time in comics. He bled for the page, and what he lacked in skill as such a young cartoonist he made up for in sheer love of the game, and he knew what comics readers were aching for in New Mutants/X-Force. This artwork is burned indelibly into my memory (especially Toad's teeth).

Also, may be worth asking Rob if he had assists on the inks at the time from Mychaels or one of the other extreme guys for posterity. The faces are purely rob, but the cross-hatching and filling of blacks, some of the hair may have been an assistant. Always fun to know.

One of those '90s images that's absolutely seared into my brain! Quintessential Liefeld example, man, hard to top. That huge grin on Toad and LOVE tha Sauron...I know we're both fans of Lykos! A stunna, brutha, big congrats!

Killer X-Force page! Love the line-up on this one page! The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants looks plenty menacing here. Liefeld's versions of Blob and Sauron and especially Toad are quite delightful. I know Rob gets a lot of flak, but pages like this are pretty cool. Love the panel layout here, very innovative and fun. The whole look and feel of the page just screams '90s, and that's not a bad thing. Congrats on great pick-up, Jason!

Nice! Rob Liefeld! The creator that gave us X-FORCE! Loved the oversized, in your face, page hogging character art of the 90’s.
