DescriptionThe Comic Art Museum hosted Colleen for an online Q&A yesterday and, I gotta tell you, it was absolutely delightful. The story of how Colleen met Neil Gaiman was worth the price of admission by itself.I've long been a fan of Colleen's work and my admiration continues to grow. I recently acquired this magnificent DPS, fresh in from the Society of Illustrators and now proudly on my wall. Talk about perfection of craft and art. There is nowhere to hide, and the truth is blinding. No gaps here. On Canson board. Social/Sharing |

I do love the Art Nouveau vibe to it, a real feast for the eyes!

Hot diggity dog! Colleen really outdid herself and this is one of the best I've ever seen from her. Love that even though it's part of a larger narrative, this tapestry can stand alone and tell a single story. HUGE congrats, friendo!

Lovely! I'm surpriesed by some of the compositional choices --- a coin in the upper left, a vertical line dead center, full black only on the right corners, etc., but this looks fantastic. Great artists can break all the rules and it somehow comes out better...

When is a splash not a splash? It is super clever, as both halves read individually - down the left and up the right. The horizontal lines were particularly helpful when it came to hiding my scan stitch. Colleen killed it!

Congrats on this piece! Obviously I am a huge fan of SGA (given that I own several pieces from the book), every single page in it is an exceptional composition and is Doran's best work (in my opinion). A beauty of a page!

The graphic design of this is just amazing - the detail and the line quality while still maintaining all the shapes and the volume - really great. Congrats on this my friend!

Though the sun may be dawning
You're the post that lights the drawing
As I awake to the heavens
Of Colleen summer lovin'
Gallop east to the country
Running barefoot and feel the breeze
While the love comic arts blend
Into sweet summer Gaiman
Sweet summer lovin' in the dandelions
Sweet summer lovin' keeps my thighs completely wide

It's beautiful and such an interesting departure from A Distant Soil. When I laid eyes on the thumbnail, I actually thought you had procured an illustrated page from a copy of the Kamasutra!
