DescriptionHappy 50th gang.During the pandemic, re-watching a few older, favorite series really helped keep me sane. I grew up hearing the 4077th on the TV, and then watched it for myself as I grew into an adult. The combination of irreverence for social norms, while maintaining an utmost respect for human life, resonated strongly with me. I wanted to commemorate the show, but OA of a group of people in drab army green is a difficult ask. I knew there could only be one artist for the job. Thanks Steve and Jaynelle! Steve opted to go with the 2.0 version of the team, and while I miss Henry, I'm kinda ok with no Frank. The accessories and details are fantastic, and the background does a lot of heavy lifting to deepen the color palette and add depth. Have a great weekend! 18 x 22 Social/Sharing |

This is great! Now you need to get a commission with just ol Hot Lips!

During pandemic, binged shows again
A show from my childhood
Looked at my art then watched M*A*S*H instead
Alda way through
Hawkeye adored with season eight cast
Of this, there’s no question
'Cause I know that you're an Hunnicutt man
Yeah (yeah)
Is this Colonel Potter for the rest of my life?
Say yes, say yes, 'cause I’ll rewatch the show
You say I'll never stop my laughing 'til the day I die
"Tough luck, my friend, Sergeant Klinger thinks so”
Why you commission Steve Rude?
I know I like Hot Lips too
David Ogden Stiers mood
Get Father Mulcahy anyway
(Painting that world) making art everyday
(War is all hell) yeah, no matter what you say
(Tragic dark tales) and we'll be a comedy
Why I gotta be so rude?

Wonderful art of an amazing show. This piece is a salute to why the last episode still stands as the most watched TV episode of all time. I was in elementary school when this originally aired, and it was my favorite 'adult' show. Not only did I really enjoy watching it, but it was the only show that made me feel like I mentally growing up while doing so. Kudos to you on your choice of subject and artist, and of course, the gorgeous end result.

OMG
This is one of those "I didn't know how much this was something I needed in my life until I saw it existed" kind of things.
Steve is on fire here, and honestly, your commission idea was pure gasoline. Kudos and congrats both.

“It's no contest: neither one of you. You guys don't even make the first cut. I'm trying to tell my uncle what kind of a place I work in: doctors, nurses saving lives. Well, I got a commanding officer who dresses me up in his clothes and sits me on a horse named Sophie so he can paint his own picture. There's a priest writing war ditties, and a snooty Major who pays me twenty bucks to follow him out in the woods and watch him blow up a pigeon with a landmine. And if that doesn't do it for ya, I got a head nurse who shoots unarmed luggage. All you two guys do is walk around all day telling jokes. What the hell's so funny about that? Ya see, Unc? It's no wonder I never got a Section Eight; there's nothing special about me. Everybody here is crazy.”

I loved this series as a child. I have seen every episode probably multiple times over. My Godfather was a stand in for Klinger in a few episodes. Such a well done comission. Congrats!

This brings back great memories. It was a wonderful series that combined great comedy and writing with acute and insightful social commentary (especially about war and its consequences and human relationships in general). Many congratulations for a wonderful piece!
