DescriptionThis is the first piece of original comic art I purchased for my own collection and it's still probably my favorite piece of original comic art I own. I had bought and sold a few pieces of art before this one, but never anything I was interested in collecting. When I bought this cover and first got it in hand that was the event that triggered my OA addiction!I was first exposed to comics as a kid when a friend of mine told me about the X-men cartoon on TV in the early 1990s. One of my favorite episodes was about Bishop, a mutant that was able to time travel from a dystopian "Days of Future Past" like future in which most of the X-men had been killed after being betrayed by one of their own. (The idea was so good I guess they tried it in the comics too!) When I started reading comics shortly after that I had to find Bishop's first appearance in order to read about the comic book's version of that story, so UXM 283 ended up being one of the first comics I ever bought and is an issue I read over and over again. Bishop is maybe my favorite X-men character to come out of the 90s. He's been at the center of so many of the great X-men storylines since then (Legion Quest, Age of Apocalypse, Onslaught, Messiah Complex) For me, this piece recaptures a piece of my childhood. And it doesn't hurt that the art itself is not bad either :) Whilce Portacio Pencils & Inks! I'm truly grateful I was given an opportunity to buy this and still can't believe I'm lucky enough to own it! Social/Sharing |

Awesome piece Adam!
Thanks! I've had so much fun viewing art on other peoples' CAFs over the years I figured it was time I start sharing a few of my own.

Gorgeous cover. I loved Portacios run on the X-Men and his pages are hard to come by let alone one of his covers. So awesome.

Great talent, some of the art he did for those early Uncanny issues is so impressive!

What a great cover! Aside for obvious reasons, this cover has always been memorable to me because it’s probably the only X-Men cover solely occupied by African Americans. How often does that happen?

Whilice was a heck of a talent back in the day when he could handle a monthly book!
