DescriptionHoly Murderous Mayhem Batman! After I discovered how much of a genius Rafael Grampa is... I made it my quest to get a bad ass piece of art. Mission accomplished! So, this is a cover that he did for a Vertigo One off Called The Unexpected. It's an homage to the long-running DC horror anthology of the same name that ran 118 issues during the 60s and 70s. And which, at one point, was the only horror title that DC was publishing. So, if you know me, and my comics tastes... you know that this is so far in my alley! I love Grampa's horror sensibility! The dude is completely irreverent about murder and untra-violence. His sense of humor toward the morbid and profane. I love it! He's very Wrightson-like in that approach. In fact the more I study his work, the more i think he is a fan of Bernie. It makes me wonder if some of the elements in this piece aren't paying subtle homage to my favorite Wrightson Comic cover Twisted Tales #2, with the body parts belted to her waste. The page itself is pristine! If there's a single drop of whiteout on this piece of paper.. well i haven't been able to find it. It's perfectly executed. Not a line out of place. I'll add some of the close up pics for the nerds :) hope you enjoy seeing this guys. I've been sweating this piece getting here since Thanks Giving. An now she's home! Big thanks to Rafael, and Chiaroscuro Studios! Thanks for being easy to deal with, and up front. And thanks for being on point with communication. All very appreciated! Social/Sharing |
