DescriptionColor original art made by Laura Scarpa in 1984 to present the proposal of a comic series for the magazine Orient Express. In 24x33cm format made with colored pencils on hard cardboard. Laura Scarpa (Venice, February 4, 1957) is an Italian cartoonist, essayist, screenwriter, editorialist and illustrator, founder of magazines such as Scuola di Fumetto and Animals. She began working in the world of comics at the end of the seventies of the twentieth century, for the magazines Linus and its subsequent evolutions (Alterlinus, Alter Alter). In addition to these collaborations, she also collaborated with the magazines Orient Express and Corriere dei Piccoli. In 1979 she drew Moll Flanders, a comic book adaptation (script by Antonio Tettamanti) of Daniel Defoe's novel Fortunes and Fortunes of the famous Moll Flanders, for the Milanese Edizioni Ottaviano, in the Grandi fumetto Ottaviano series. In 1987 she created her most famous character, Martina, which was initially published by the magazine for teenagers Ragazza In and later, between 1991 and 1994, on Lupo Alberto Magazine. With the Argentinean Carlos Trillo she created the series Come La Vita, published by the publisher Macchia Nera, both as single volumes and on his magazine Blue and later on Mondo Naif by Kappa Edizioni. In addition to the Italian market, the series was distributed in Germany, the Netherlands and France. Since its creation in May 2002, she has been the director of the magazine Scuola di Fumetto, published by Coniglio Editore. In the middle of the first decade of the 2000s, she took over the direction of Blue, maintaining it even after the change that led to the transformation into Touch in the early months of 2010. Since May 2009, she has also been the editor of the newly formed container magazine ANIMAls, again for Coniglio Editore, which in addition to comics also hosts illustrations, narratives and interviews. Since 2011, she has directed ascuoladifumetto-online.com, the first Italian online comic school with which traditional frontal teaching is amplified by the new and enormous potential of the web. The courses, of different levels of learning and specialization, are held by some of the most authoritative contemporary Italian cartoonists. In 2012 she founded and directed the non-profit cultural association ComicOut, whose purpose is the promotion, dissemination and better knowledge of comics, as an autonomous language and as art. Laura Scarpa, in addition to being a comic book artist and illustrator, is also the author and editor of several essays, always in the field of comics and screenplays. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful color pencilwork with shading and blush. Scarpa also adds quite a bit of age and personality to the suspects in b&w.

Yes Marcus, I find also the sharp cut of the lines interesting, typical of the 80s. Accompanied by interesting dense shades that enhance the points of light on the colors, which find an interesting material balance with the dark shadows, which enhances the volumes.
