DescriptionRivista TOP n.8 pagina 21 - 1971 Top (Maxi historietas completas)Domingo Mandrafina - Domingo Roberto Mandrafina, detto Cacho (Buenos Aires, 2 novembre 1944), disegnatore argentino. TOP Rivista edita da Cielosur Editora che iniziò a essere pubblicata nel luglio 1971 sotto la direzione del fumettista César Spadari. Fino al nº 9 la rivista è apparsa in formato verticale e di dimensioni 19×27 cm. composta da 96 pagine interne. Nell'aprile 1972 divenne 14×20 in formato orizzontale per poi tornare al formato originale nelle edizioni finali. Top (il cui sottotitolo era "Maxi historietas completas") apparve fino all'inizio del 1973 con venti numeri e tra i suoi personaggi principali possiamo segnalare "Ernie Pike", "Artemio, el taxista de Buenos Aires" e "Marc". That middle tier creates a lot of tension to pause the action waiting for a sign of life.

I really like the use of extreme contrast that echoes to me the graphic mode so dear to Frank Miller in his late period. Here we are in the very early 1970s, and it's unusual even for Mandrafina whose work I've seen a lot of early work, here he was probably experimenting with new techniques of chiaroscuro in silhouette and let's not forget that in those years just before there had been the optical period, used by so many artists even Guido Crepax for example who had a whole phase of graphic growth in this style. Finally, I am very interested in the scratches he uses to describe explosions and the use of hatches for clouds

Effettivamente negli ultimi pannelli sembra proprio Miller!
