DescriptionOriginal Art pencil and ink on light cardboard. Signed and stamped on the back (the stamp certifies direct provenance from the Altuna Archives)Loco Chávez is an Argentinean comic series, conceived and written by Carlos Trillo and drawn by Horacio Altuna. First published in 1975 in the Clarín newspaper, it is one of the country's major comic successes, being published for ten consecutive years. The protagonist of the story, Loco (mad) is a journalist who lives in Buenos Aires and investigates, in a comic key, the daily dramas of people. On more than one occasion, he gets himself into embarrassing or paradoxical situations, and often has to deal with beautiful women with whom he sometimes has romantic relationships, but there are more than a few times when Loco goes AWOL. Loco is well educated and a fan of the Racing football team. Among the recurring characters in the protagonist's adventures are his editor-in-chief Balderi, his shy photographer colleague Pampita, his advertising friend and womanizer Malone, and the porter Homero. Horacio Altuna seems to have been inspired by himself in drawing it. Social/Sharing |

Thank you! I was thunderstruck by this dreamlike vision of the Argentine master, and I love the way he used the whitewash screens to create the play of shadows and light to enhance the sensual feminine volumes and lines.
