Description

Here is Twice Told Tales by Joe Kubert drawn between 1942-1946.

This remained unpublished for many years but was finally published a few times over the years -- The Spirit #40, Dark Horse April 1983; Will Eisner's Shop Talk at page 227 (Dark Horse 2001), the Art of Joe Kubert (Fantagraphics 2011) and in Comic Book Creator: Tribute to Joe Kubert p.42 (TwoMorrows Summer 2013). It may also have been published in the 1995 ShopTalk collection but I don't have that. Anyone know?

The cover is usually attributed to 1944-46 when Joe would have been 18-20 years old BUT in his interview in the TwoMorrows Tribute (p.54), he says the idea came to him when he was 14 and he drew it when he was 16-17 which would have been 1942-43. Of course, he was trying to remember this 60 years later so I peg it as 1942-46.
