Description

There are some sensational comic artists working
today. One of the more modern artists that immediately caught
my eye--gone decades before his time--was Mike Parobeck. I
don't know where his career might have taken him, but I'd have
enjoyed the ride.

I especially enjoyed Mike's work with Rick Burchett on
“Batman Adventures”. Adapting his own talents to
follow Ty Templeton's style, Parobeck joined with Burchett
to make a dynamic team for the next three years. Most of
the available pages I found featured… well, Batman. I was
hunting for a page featuring Batgirl or Poison Ivy.

In “The Batman Adventures #18” (Vol 1), I found my page.
Batman isn’t to be found as Batgirl considers teaming up
with Robin to take down the bad guys. I like to imagine
Mike had fun with this issue, since he once stated that
Robin was his favorite character to draw.

Parobeck's style was perfectly suited to carry the animated series because he had great mastery of line and form contrary to the crosshatching mania happening at the time.  Batgirl's big hair looks like it could be made into part of an action figure!

I never saw it until now, but that's some action figure hair all right!

If Parobeck's style had come to dominate the superhero genre, I would have been happy.  This is a fantastic page!
