DescriptionAKA the Scroll Cover. I love how Travis incorportated the story elements in this cover drawing. The Nazis are the bad guys. Our heroes have to keep the scroll away from the evil doers; There's a chase scene involving the motorcycle and the cylindrical machine is used by the bad guys to summon a really bad guy. Fortunately, our heroes saved the day!!!!Anyway, this book introduced me to the art of Travis Charest. This cover makes me smile everytime I see it. 8 ) Many thanks to Jim D'amico for working out a deal with me. Social/Sharing |

I can only think of a handful (if that) of Travis pieces that can hang alongside this one... this was a serious addition to an already ridiculous collection!!!

What a great cover. This is the comic where Travis let loose and started developing the style he is now known for. Just flipping through the pages of the issue, you can see his work evolving and maturing. It's really hard to believe now that he was once thought of as one of a legion of Jim Lee clones. Too bad you had to let go of that awewome jj Fables cover, but I guess it was for the greater good!

X-Men/Wildcats is the pinnacle of Travis' career. Joe, your cover is the Holy Grail for Travis fans. This period in his career really proved to be his most explosive creatively. A terrific balance of draftmanship and design. Congratulations!

The first time I ever saw this cover was when you shared it with me in person at SDCC 2007 Joe. Thanks for that, it was a treat; but the real treat was seeing how utterly thrilled you were at acquiring it. It's not remotely surprising to me it still is makes you smile with each viewing; the truly great ones always do! Thanks again for sharing it, in person, and on CAF. Happy Collecting!~:)

And to think, Travis had this cover and this issue within him the whole time he was doing works like Darkstars and early WildCATS. Beautiful!

This cover is probably the best work Travis has done so far. I still can't believe this was drawn more than 10 years ago...Way ahead of its time. We still haven't caught up with this.
