Description

Original art depicting the character Thomasin, as portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy, and Black Phillip from the feature film The VVitch by Dan Brereton. Approximate image size 10" x 14" on a larger 11" x 15" art board...watercolor and gouache on art board. This piece was published in the Dan Brereton art book "In The Night Studio". A fine realization of Thomasin and the Satanic Black Phillip!

"In 1630 New England, panic and despair envelops a farmer, his wife and their children when youngest son Samuel suddenly vanishes. The family blames Thomasin, the oldest daughter who was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, twin siblings Mercy and Jonas suspect Thomasin of witchcraft, testing the clan's faith, loyalty and love to one another."

Beautiful piece! Brereton's use of color and lighting is extraordinary and his figure drawing and composition are exemplary as well. Congrats on a superb Brereton piece!
