DescriptionFor me, Return to Big Nothing was not just one of the best Punisher stories of the time, but also some of Mike Zeck’s best work. The art in the book is just beautiful, reminding me in its simplicity of a well executed wood cut.The story explores what I guess Joseph Campbell calls part of ‘the hero’s journey’ - Frank Castle’s dedication and skills as a young man in the army, the obstacles he faced, his struggle to overcome them, and the demons they left behind. When he is eventually 'reborn' as the Punisher, very little of Frank Castle is left and remnants of his past are killed off. Page 62 concludes the book. I like how the Punisher walks out of this last panel and eventually into a bright future in the Marvel Universe. The text summarises his character perfectly in his own voice, only saying what needs to be said: “They laugh at the law.” “But they don’t laugh at me”. Social/Sharing |

outstanding page! so crisp. it's like all those moments in films where a character says the name of the movie. except here is a sign. very cool!

Everything about this is outstanding. The art, the lettering across the body, the captions...one of the best Punisher OR Zeck pieces out there IMO. You are a lucky fella! Congrats!

Outstanding splash from a classic story. Obviously Zeck's covers for the limited series are iconic, but the quality of the interior are on that series varies from issue to issue and sometimes page to page. Return to Big Nothing, on the other hand, was Zeck and Beatty at the top of their games--as illustrated by this killer page. Congrats!

I think The Joker might be laughing, even in death, if they ever do the Punisher Joker crossover. That mad lad has a sense of humour. He was even laughing as he broke his own neck in DKR.
