DescriptionTwo pages to post today! The Thing has often been thought of as a one-man wrecking crew, but look how well the other shoe fits: Ben Grimm - working man! Building stuff!!Strapped with financial hardship once again, the FF look for alternate means of bringing in some rent money… but Ben does his job a bit too well, and is asked by the site foreman to slow things down a bit so that everyone else can make a living, too. Ben making multiple trips (carrying impossibly heavy loads) back and forth across the panels (in the time it takes for the foreman (who looks a little like Mark Millar here… or is that just me?) to chat with his co-workers and then cross the worksite to Ben) is a great gimmick and sets up their conversation on page 11 perfectly… (And it’s good to see The Thing in a hard hat on site, too! Safety first!) The worksite background was done on a separate page (please see the additional images), and was added to this one in post-production. This page and the next form a pair that showcases some superb graphic storytelling and the gorgeous, crisp pencils of Steve, with always-impeccable inks by the one and only Mark Morales. Thanks again, Tyler! Social/Sharing |

Poor Ben. He gonna upset all the union reps. First the carpenters, then the electricians, then the masons. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. And he thought dealing with Doom and Annihulus was bad.

Well, I get up McNiven, yeah
And construction work is mine
Morales time for drawin'
Yes, he’s inkin' all the lines
It seems to me
He could lift my Knights
A lot better with the Thing in hand
I guess that's why he shows me
I’m Benji the workin' man
I’m Benji the workin' man
I guess fan's what I am

Man, this is a fantastic two-page sequence you have posted. For both posts, reading your descriptions brought so much more enjoyment to the artwork. Thank you for that. I really enjoyed the stories told in Marvel Knights 4, but it was Steve McNiven's clean & crisp pencils and Mark Morales' surgical-level inks (as you aptly describe them) that elevated the series in my mind.

Such fun to see the Thing working like the common guy.
Love that first panel with those warped planks.
