DescriptionSince his 1st introduction in Daredevil #1 from 1964, Daredevil & Spider-Man have had an interesting, yet sometimes troublesome relationship. Spider-Man appeared on the cover of Daredevil #1 & he quickly responded by by making an appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #16.Amazing Spider-Man #50 was the 1st appearance of the Kingpin, but years later Kingpin became the Daredevil's most vilified adversary. Netflix's Daredevil series is based on the longstanding Kingpin/Daredevil feud. One of the best & most compelling story arcs of the late 80's was the Gang War storyline. This cover seems to culminate that story as both Daredevil & Spider-Man want to take down the Kingpin, they just want to do it in their own way. Vintage black costume covers from this title are actually quite rare! On the covers of ASM #252 to #300, Spider-Man is in his black costume on only 35 of them! I'm so glad to have this one! What attracted me to this cover it that you can really see & feel the intensity of this battle between Spider-Man & Daredevil. Emotions are clearly running high! What more could you ask for than 2 of Marvel's most heroic & popular superheroes battling on a cover like this? To me, it's beyond the art! Social/Sharing |

Great daredevil cameo. At first glance, Spider-man seems... happy to see him...

I remember the Gang War storyline very well. About as good as it gets for black costume covers from this era. Congratulations!

A fabulous and classic cover from that era, also from the fun and memorable Gang War story. I LOVE Baker's inks. Back then I thought he was going to become a big name inker, as his stuff looked great over anyone, even guys like Byrne. Congrats, West!

Black costume Spider-Man vs Daredevil, the Kingpin, the Rose, and the Hobgoblin storylines all within this Gang War storyline! A great cover that reflected the specific time and era of Spider-Man comics.

Judging by DD's face, Spidey is about to get his answer...Right to the gut. KRAKA-NOPE! What a sweet black costume cover. I dug that storyline, too. Excellent pick up. Congrats!

Of course, in a real fight, Spider-Man would wipe the floor with Matt! Spider strength, agility and webs versus a guy with sticks who can jump a bit. Nuff said. The art is nice.

In this era there was an anger in Spidey that broke through in several different storylines when he was pushed to his limit. Love seeing that intensity on display here!
