I participated in the November Comic Art Live Mystery Sketch opportunity. There were a ton of great artists, but Manix (from Next Comic Art) was definitely one I hoped to get. Not knowing which artist I would get made picking the subject even more difficult. Earlier this year I went with Judge Death, but decided this time to go with a character nobody would pick...Papa Emeritus III from the band Ghost. I am a big Ghost fan, and Papa III was always my favorite. He unfortunately met his untimely demise after a card game with Papa's I & II, when a nameless ghoul injected him with a hypodermic needle. His body (along with Papa's I, II & Nihil) can still be seen on tour for those that purchase the anointed VIP package.

I am not sure if Manix is familiar with the band, but he nailed this one! I picked up a sketch opportunity from him earlier this year and asked for Judge Death. It almost looks like a companion piece with both main characters standing on a pile of bones, parts, etc.

Hey Matt! This fell to Manix! and what do you know? He knows the band! He really enjoyed doing this piece! Glad it all worked out! The paint he did for this piece was great!
