DescriptionSean Phillips did a great series of movie paintings in the back matter of Criminal so when the opportunity arose to get a commission from him, I decided to have him do an illustration of Travis Bickle from one of my favorite films of all time; Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver.Sean Phillips nailed it, it’s all in the eyes. Great painted piece showing the De Niro as a reflection of the societial malaise of late 70's America. Lean, bloodied, battered, and a misfit with no place in society.

“Suck on this.” Wouldn't want to bump into him late at night in a dark alley. Fantastic likeness and, as you say, the eyes have it.
