DescriptionI remember picking up this comic purely for the cover at my LCS as a kid. Not kidding, the memory is crystal clear. I saw this prelim go up for sale AND sell for cheap several years ago but stupidly missed out on a great deal. I don’t think they knew what it was or who the artist was, but I did. A dealer put it up for sale at 10x the price a few months later, but I had to have it. I spoke with Joe to confirm it was his artwork and he did, he was blown away it was still out there in the ether, floating around! On the back are 4 other ideas for the cover, which I will post separately or figure out how to do it in this post later on, but this one is pretty close to the final. If you compare, you’ll see what was changed. I’m just happy to have a vintage Joe Mad piece!Social/Sharing |

Very cool early Madureira! This complex of a cover design showed he had what it takes to shoot to the top on the flagship X-Men title soon after.
