Description13 x 16.75Article "Separated at Birth" from The Nation April 2015 issue This illustration was published in the 150th anniversary issue of "The Nation." A fun fact was that the inaugural issue of "The Nation" was released just 2 days after "Alice in Wonderland" was in London on July 4,1865. The article celebrates this history as well as discusses what lessons the book can continue to teach to "The Nation" readers. I've always been more partial to Shimizu's illustrative work for periodical over her comic cover work. In general, it probably suits her style better. I had to jump on this piece when Felix dropped it is just a wonderfully magical illustration. Yuko's flowers, the amazing rendition of the Cheshire Cat are just two of the elements that drew me to it. Just an instantly recognizable type of image. An adorable piece of fantasy fiction illustration! Looks like Alice herself is the artist and consequences that happen to her is by her own doing.

Great take! It has the classic John Tenniel vibes while retaining Yuko style and sensibility.
