DescriptionPrelim to the Poster art of one of Boris's most iconic artworks, the faux-heroic movie poster for National Lampoon’s Vacation, which has been swiped many times by other artists.Boris is at his best here lampooning Frazetta, Star Wars, the Sword and Sorcery genre and even his own works. However the prelim differs slightly from the final poster as it depicts Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) and The Girl in the Ferrari (Christie Brinkley) holding on to a jacked Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) in ‘80s short-shorts, wielding aloft a gleaming tennis racket as opposed to the final image which has Christie Brinkley removed. There is a s a partial paste-over on Brinkley's face used to exact her likeness in the drawing. Social/Sharing |

Removed the kids too, Rusty and Audry is out even as they reflect the audience's reactions! Forget fantasy / barbarian, National Lampoon's Vacation is more of a disaster movie than those two.

Kids are a bit of hinderance to buff barbarian aspirational types when it comes to love action.

Fabulous art by Boris and Chevy never looked buffer. In fact he never looked buff.

Talk about a nostalgia fix, this is awesome! Having grown up with this classic movie, I've seen the poster tons over the years but I don't think I ever knew it was a Boris. So cool.

OMG! The prelim to the poster for one of my favorite movie comedies ever! Boris Vallejo's poster for the National Lampoon's Vacation is just classic! Who doesn't smile at the image of Chevy Chase posed like a Barbarian celebrating victory while scanitly clad beauties lay at his feet, clutching his leg? The whole concept of parodying 1970's movie posters was genius. And the prelim has most of the impact of the final painted poster. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
