Description

Ben's recent Vampirella variant covers are, I feel, a perfect example of how the industry finally now seems to have started to take notice of his talents. He had a couple of these with him at last month's NICE Con in Northampton, but I didn't feel my budget would stretch to what those stunning A3 pieces were (quite rightly) fetching.
So I console myself with this A4 pencil study of one of my favourite characters.
I feel very fortunate that I chanced upon Ben's work as his star was, to my mind, very much on the ascendant; I'm well aware that his work will soon command prices quite beyond my reach.
Which is, of course, exactly how it should be for a fellow of his artistic abilities.

(Postscript: Seems this image HAS now become a Vampi variant cover after all!)

As I say, by no means the coloured, A3 piece I would dearly LIKE to have bought from Ben that day, but a great consolation piece nonetheless.

Ben really captures an elegant simplicity with just enough lines to capture our attention and hold it tight. Love this!
