Oil on Canvas, 2015.

A little note about how special this painting is to me. I first saw it at the IX Art Pop Up at the Delaware Museum of Art in 2016. I was drawn to it and Stephen told me it was a personal work. He asked me what I thought the title should be. We discussed it a while and we agreed The Dark Grail was perfect. I thought about this piece often and one day Stephen sent me a one-off personalized print of the painting. I was ecstatic. I would occasionally see the painting displayed at IX shows though the years. I was shocked it hadn't sold - and maybe it was Stephen who didn't really want to part with it. The last time I saw him in person, he was behind the wheel of our Telsa, having a ball, flying through the streets of Reading. Then in the Spring of 2021, Stephen reached out and offered me the painting. He wanted to make sure I had a chance to add it to our collection since he knew how much I loved it. After we received it, it was the last I got to chat with him as he never indicated how sick he actually was. He passed only a few short months later. It's one of the most special pieces we have and we are lucky to be the caretakers for as long as we are able. Although I didn't know him well, he always felt like a friend and he is sorely missed. What a talented and intelligent soul. I hope you are soaring with dragons. Thank you Stephen.
