Brian's was the second Cap commission I arranged, but the first I received. To say he set the bar high for everyone to follow would be a massive understatement.

I am in absolute awe of this piece. The shadow is a particularly inspired choice that pulls double duty, serving as both a compositional element and a symbolic representation that it's the man who makes the hero.

My eternal thanks to Brian for doing splendid justice to what very well may be THE defining Cap moment from the films.

ASK THE ARTIST:
Why this scene? I asked Brian and he said "It really reveals WHO Cap IS. Not what he does, or even what he's capable of, but just who he is. His honest voice coming out. He doesn't need validation, just a cause. I love him so much. I want to use my voice with that kind of confidence, courage and wisdom to place it in virtuous behavior.

In addition to that, it's a very Christlike moment. Being religious myself, it's nice to see representations of good guys suffering for righteousness' sake. No laurels, just objective and material futility because it's the right thing to do with no promise of victory. It's a transcendent moment you don't often see in movies like that."
