DescriptionAntonio Prohias designed this cover and Norman Mingo finished it. This is a tight bright prelim which Mingo drew in 1968 and then autographed and gave to a friend in 1974.This is one of the classic "physics-defying" covers which many people (myself included) prefer to the outright parodies of Alfred E. Neuman dressed like whatever celebrity was being parodied. Mad has sadly been discontinued as a regular newsstand publication, though it will continue in reprints and quite probably get resurrected in some form or another. People thought Mad had had its moment already by the 90s, when, lo and behold, it was resurrected and reborn as a hit TV series. So count it (and Alfred) down but not out. Social/Sharing |
