DescriptionI'm a huge fan of Sean Murphy's work and have wanted to add a DKR commission by him to my collection for a while. Thanks to OAX, I got the opportunity! Sean pulled out all the stops, incorporating so many iconic scenes from the book. It would be a perfect movie poster. I had the added pleasure of having Sean present the finished art to me and explain his choices, difficulties, etc. Thanks to Sean, Geoff and Bill Cox for making this such a great experience!11x17 pen and ink on Bristol Social/Sharing |

My oh my, this is an incredible beauty of a piece!! I love the way Batman dominates the composition, coming in from the side like that. It's a bold design choice that is executed perfectly. And of course the inking technique all around is superb, which we've come to expect from Sean, but here it somehow looks even better. Stunning commission Joe, huge congratulations on this gem!

Picking the Dark Knight Batman was a great idea. Love his take on it. Congrats on this.

Love seeing Sean's take on the classic Batman/Carrie Kelley jumping pose. The inking is stellar (especially with the fine details), as is par for Sean, but those black vertical bars are an unexpected bonus- they help focus the image and also make all of the different elements pop out more, giving the action a bit more energy behind it. So glad I got to see it in person (and overhear some of Sean's commentary). Huge congrats on getting this commission!

Totally agree, I thought "movie poster" right when I saw it! So awesomely composed, and the pure illustration in the unique SGM style. Congrats!
