DescriptionDark Knight III: The Master Race took core Dark Knight Returns elements that we all recognize and pushed them forward to the next level. Modern artistic sensibilities combine with classic bold storytelling and “talking” panels that evoke Frank Miller’s signature work. With "The Master Race" co-writers Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello deliver a brilliant story with Gotham at its core. This absolutely stunning opening DPS set the tone. Composed/drawn by Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson on FOUR boards (30" x 20") that were integrated for the published double page spread. Kubert infuses his style into Miller-isms that evoke a powerful sense of nostalgia, cinematic dialogue panels and an incredible detailed Gotham backdrop. Janson's inking provides a remarkable sense of depth and adds to the hard, brutal edge of the Gotham setting. Finally, Brad Anderson’s color work gives it all a toned-down, lived-in aesthetic, not to mention a gorgeous Gotham sunrise. Social/Sharing |

Incredible massive piece Dino. The rendition of the Gotham landscape and sequential panels are beautifully executed.

This is cool. Whenever I see a big city scape/rooftop scene I think of Disney and Hunchback of Notre Dame where the artists added in satellite dishes etc.. into the painting that was not picked up by the editors. Easter eggs if you will. Doesn't look like Kubert has that kind of mischief in him hete. Perhaps a nude silhouette in one of the many windows could have worked. 😅😉 Congrats Dino on an impressive pick up!

Beautiful piece. I've always said that one of the more wonderful elements of the Batman mythology is how Gotham has always been a character unto itself. With this magnificent landscape, Dino, now YOU belong to the city!

Hot town, summer Gotham City
Batman by Frank getting dark and gritty
Hands down, Kubert's kinda nifty
Janson seems to ink the shadows in the city
All around, people drawings inset
Talking in the head shots, hotter than an art spread
But Dark Knight it's a different world
Robin is now a girl
Come on, Dino and dance Dark Knight
Despite the heat it'll be all right
And babe, don't you know it's so pretty
That the page is one for the Knights
In the summer, Gotham city
It's a FALCON, of the city
