Giovan Battista Carpi was born in Genova on the 16th of November 1927.
He attends the Accademia of Belle Arti first and painter Giacomo Picollo�s studio after debutting in the comic art world in 1945 on weekly �Faville�. He then collaborates with �Lo Scolaro�, �Gazzetta dei Piccoli� and other magazines.
He works for a while at the studio of animated films of Pagot brothers and in 1953 he becomes part of the staff that realizes comic stories with characters from Disney. He�s particularly talented for costume stories he fonds his name with the same parodies, from "Paperino Principe di Dunimarca" to an important reduction of �I Miserabili� of Victor Hugo.
He illustrates many �Manuali Delle Giovani Marmotte"; in 1969 he creates graphically the character of �Paperinik�.
Even though he spends the majority of his time working on Disney characters he sometimes collaborates with other editors: for �Bianconi� he creates �Nonna Abelarda� (later worked on mostly by Nicola Del Principe), he realizes various stories of �Fix und Foxi� for Germany and gives birth to �Gargantua� for �Smack� and �Dodo� for �Airone Junior� (from 1989).
He�s also the founder and director of the �Accademia Disney�, school of authors set up into Disney Italia.
He dies in Genova on the 8th of March 1999.
