Description

In this scene, young Lula Talisola and her Padawan friends find themselves surrounded by meanies. The script simply called for a basic fight scene, but Tolibau found it more rewarding to give each Padawan a little story. Zeen Mrala (low and in front) pushes back the attackers on our left. Lula deflects a hail of blaster fire from that same area. On our left, Farzala Tarabal cuts through numerous enemy weapons with his lightsaber. Qort defends the rear. It's a dynamic and chaotic scene even without the detritus on the ground, but the colored version helps the details to stand out from each other.

I picked this page up from Tolibau at OAX 2025. I wasn't familiar with the series, published by IDW on a Disney license. But the basic concepts are clear enough. Blasters go pew pew. Lightsabers go womp womp. Force push goes whoosh.

The back of the page has a digital preliminary version taped to it as a guide for the final pencil/ink version on the front of the page.

Harvey Tolibao's top half splash could tell about 5 minutes worth of story in film! He's giving his artwork a distinct look over any other artist out there and sets a high bar for Star Wars artists.

epic High Republic force weilding triple saber action page by Harvey! congrats on this awesome pickup at OAX! I'm a huge fan of Harvey in general but also of his work on this series. I have page 2 from this same issue and the cover to issue 3 by Harvey over in my gallery.

Harvey's love for the Star Wars universe has been on full display throughout all of the issues he's worked on across this series, and the incedible detail he includes in every page. I never tire of seeing them.
