Description

Anna Brandoli (Milan, 1945) is a very talented comic artist and Rebecca is perhaps her most famous character.
Written by Renato Queirolo and published in the early '80s, the adventures of this gipsy girl are set in Italy at the end of the Middle Ages.
This evocative, cover worthy illustration depicts Rebecca facing another main character of the saga, an executioner called "Faccia d'Osso" (Bone Face).
Anna's style in her black and white works makes me think of an interesting mix between Hugo Pratt (1927-1995), Didier Com�s (1942-2013) and Jos� Mu�oz (1942), but in fact it still remains really distinctive and personal.

Lush inks! You don't even realize that it's outdoors at night until you see the little wedge of the cresent moon.

that should be a falling moon in the northern hemisphere (it would be crescent in the southern hemisphere) :)

Great chiaroscuro style, and the poses and faces are perfect. Interesting choices with the subtle moon and fountain/systern front and center
