Description

I've long wanted a Happy Hooligan Sunday page by Opper and am glad to have picked up a page that appeared on July 26, 1931, just three weeks after my father was born. I like to imagine my grandfather seeing this piece in a New York newspaper, with my baby father nearby.

As folks might note, Opper's cartooning was rough in his later years. Failing eyesight led to a more fragile drawing, but it's that kind of stuff I love.

Stunning 1931 Happy Holligan Sunday comic. The world has changed a lot since then, but comic artists keep plugging along.
