Pair of artboards feature the complete original art for cover for "Venomized" Variant cover to "X-Men Blue" Annual #1, published by Marvel Jan. 2018. Art is by Mike Hawthorne, noted for his work on "Deadpool, Queen & Country, Conan: Road Of Kings" and other titles. He has been nominated for both Harvey and Eisner awards. Cover art depicts Hawthorne's "Venomized" designs of the X-Men Blue team - younger versions of Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Iceman, Beast and Angel who have time traveled to the present day. First, 11x17.25" artboard has blue/lead pencil preliminary original art. Top margin has penciled "X-Men Blue" title as well as "Variant Cover" and Hawthorne's name in pencil. Second, 11x17" artboard has Hawthorne's final inked artwork, which was inked over print of preliminary pencils and used to produce the cover. Top margin bears same written information, which has been written again above in ink. Hawthorne has signed his name at lower right of each. Both artboards remain clean and art is Exc. Wonderful art featuring designs by one of Marvel's hottest artists.
