Description

Happy to be a caretaker of a McFarlance spidey page.

I get the classic TM contorted spidey pose in the top panel with the great action in the middle panels. Really like the perspective of the 2nd panel showing spidey's view of his fall.

The cherry on top being the bottom panel. I have notices ta
hat Todd spends most of his time and art on the characters, with minimal efforts on the backgrounds. I am Very happy to see the skyline he drew in the bottom panel.

I am honored to be a member of the McFarlane spidey club. Just need 52 more TM pages to catch up to Scot McSpidey Fan :)

Congrats, Jordan, you got yourself an example with some nice Spidey action! But, why in the world have you long applauded Todd for putting minimal efforts on the backgrounds?!? Why wouldn't you want him (and EVERY artist) to put maximum effort into BOTH, and be a more balanced and better artist in general?

Stop it, it's Todd McFarlane.  He put everything and then some into the background for that last panel.  The open space in panel 5 is to emphasize the little humbling thought balloons.

Stop what? I personally don't have a memory of Todd regularly leaving backgrounds empy or sparse. But apparently he did, according to Jordan's comment. So many artists do that, so I don't think about it much. But don't you find it odd that Jordan seems to be saying he liked it when all the effort went into the Spidey figures and only minimally on the backgrounds? This is genuinely the first time I've ever heard a fan seem to enjoy and want the main character to get all the work and leave the backgrounds sparse, so I very much look forward to hearing Jordan's thinking behind that, as it's a pretty unique take.

Just something I noticed.  Even panels 1, 3, and 5 on this page are bare.  I figured he preferred to emphasize the characters.   Good on him for making his mark.

Right, but the way you wrote the comment makes it seem like you appreciated the sparse backgrounds. Is that what you meant though? You actually like minimal backgrounds, or were you only trying to say that you appreciated the highly detailed figure work? As far as this page goes, it's actually pretty balanced, with 3 panels containing sparse backgrounds and 3 panels with full backgrounds, including the last one which is especially nice.

Very cool McSpidey page from ASM! I really love the panel of him straightening out and doing a proper dive fall into the water. And that skyline background detail panel at the bottom is also top notch. congrats Jordan!
