DescriptionThe calm before the storm. A peaceful Thor for a change. If you look at all the other covers from this run, this one stands out - to me at least. (Apparently Mark liked it too!) I finally have a Coipel/Morales joint production. :) (Not that I don't love Dexter Vines!) I learned yesterday when I picked this up from Kwan that Coipel designed the Thor (and Loki) costume for the MCU movies and you can really tell in this cover. Apparently Coipel was supposed to submit the character design type style sheet (front facing, sideways, back shots) but he just sent in his published work. He's thanked in the movie credits. Thanks to Justin for moral support & Ken for the Coipel introduction. The runes appear to say "to our friend Stephane Peru"? Social/Sharing |

BIG congrats, Anthony! Just a great example from the run and yes, unique in that you've got a calm and contemplative Thor. "Calm before the storm" is apt...cuz you know it's coming :)

Splendid cover. Coipel and Morales complement each other's work perfectly. Congrats on the pick-up!

I remember being shocked when you hadn't heard of Coipel or seen his work. You are definitely a superfan now.

I always thought this was a striking cover. Very cool that you were able to grab it.

You bet. As much as Thor's storied rage and fury makes for compelling (and purchase-worthy) comic covers, I remember being so struck by this - the elegance of line, the strength of design, the truth of concept - that I couldn't -not- buy this book. I mean, it was Straczynski and Coipel (so there's no way I wouldn't have bought it anyways - it was in my -box- for crying out loud :) ), but I found that the "rage-filled" covers that came after this one (and there were some doozies) felt a little forced after the depth of character that Olivier had conveyed here. It just felt "true" and it really resonated with me. Another stunning add, Anthony! Mega-congrats!
