Description

One of the key pages from my favorite comic of all time.

Bought from Mr. Philip Bond himself, one of the unsung maestros of comic art, via email, though I seem to recall him clearing out the rest of the pages he had a few years back. Not sure who handles his original art sales now.

At the bottom of the page, one of the word balloons is literally taped in place. The lettering (by Ellie DeVille) is inked directly onto the board, but that one balloon needed a paste-up replacement because the original was partway past the "live area" boundary.

There's also a note from Bond to colorist Danny Vozzo on the right-hand margin: "DANNY: PANELS 1 + 2 LOTS MORE BLOOD!! / NIGHT"

The autograph in the bottom right corner is the book's writer, Grant Morrison. When I got it out for him to sign at New York Comic Con 2012 (I think it was 2012?), he grinned when he saw it and commented something to the effect of "You know, what no one got about this one is that it's a COMEDY!"
