Description

Here's another fun page I picked up at OAX from the always great Dave Wilkins of JadeGiant Comic Art! This page is from the story "Captain America Joins... The Avengers", which was the third story in the Captain America 80th Anniversary Tribute issue. This issue is a retelling of Avengers 4, and was penciled by Joe Bennett, then inked over blue lines by Ruy Jose. Please note I have the image of the pencils only page as well by Joe... I love the way the panels are laid out in here, almost looking like photographs with slight misalignments! The story itself is a classic, with Namor showing up upset about the big ice figure containing Cap was being worshipped instead of him, so he throws the ice figure into the ocean, which will eventually lead to the Avengers finding it... That last panel showing Cap frozen in ice is amazing! I now have pieces from all 3 stories in the Tribute issue!!

Love the Ruy Jose inks to make this a story of legend interpreted by the natives as there would have been no other accounts of this Marvel history incident.

nice work getting pages from all the stories from this 80th anniversasry celebration issue. Cap frozen in ice makes for a haunting final panel, as part of an origin re-told, great page!
