DescriptionENTER THE VAULT - Serafina the Technopath (able to mechanically interface with machinery)My favorite storyline from Hickman’s X-Men run (2019 - 2021), after he beautifully constructed the new DAWN OF X. This is my second page from issue #18 (CHILDREN OF THE VAULT, ENTER THE VAULT was a storyline for issues #18 and #19). It features the character Serafina, a Technopath, interfacing with the machine that runs the city inside the vault. It syncs with her to find out that Wolverine (formerly X23), Synch and Darwin have entered the vault and that they need to take them out by any means necessary. Asrar’s work with Hickman’s storyline works beautifully in conjunction to tell a really complicated high end tale of a world and history in only two issues. It was fast and furious, but it was also full of complex storytelling and emotion. These two splashy panels showcasing Serafina in an intense connection illustrate Asrar’s talent and attention to impactful detailed art. Social/Sharing |

Nice page from likely the most memorable Hickman story of his run (outside of his whole concept for the franchise).

Congrats James! A great page from a great Hickman / Asrar story. Really looking forward to seeing how the story develops in Fall of X, hopefully with Asrar on art duty again.

It's a great image showing how Asrar's art compliments the wild imaginative ways Hickman is creating techno futurism and humanity/mutanity's place in the world that mirrors what is happening today.

Really like how her face is shadowed...adds that sense of mystery as far as her interfacing. And really dig the transition from the panel to the splash, and depth exhibited in the latter? Sublime stuff. Congrats!

Great sequence - congrats on reassembling and preserving it! Beautiful black and white art, I find that top panel especially rich and potent. Fantastic examples of Mahmud's work from a special period of X-history! Congrats, James!
