DescriptionIronically, I'll keep this one short, despite being one of the more important and personal pieces on here. This is the basis for my wife and I's wedding invitation in 2023.Considering my hobby, which is very present in our lives, we wanted to "mention" it in the invitation. Yup, I'm lucky like that. However, we agreed the reference(s) should be subtle. That's why I proposed to do the classic "Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21" with Peter & MJ's wedding, but only its pose. She liked the idea, as she likes Peter & Mary Jane's story in the comics (up until "One More Day"!). Another reference was the balcony and background. Those are heavily referenced from pictures of Villa del Balbianello (where the "Star Wars" Naboo scenes were filmed for "Attack of the Clones"). It's where I proposed to her in 2022 - as COVID had postponed my plans. Holding the actual wedding there was pretty much financially and logistically impossible, though. We decided on Raul as he has a distinct style, can do realism "with a twist" and was very open to the idea. He mentioned it was a tough one to do, as he restarted a few times and he wanted to get it just right: a balance between recognizability and his style. And he did! This was done on sturdy toned A3 paper, with pencils, inks and white-out. PS. I didn't really keep it that short in the end, I guess. Social/Sharing |

Ahh you Europeans have the best backdrops. Americans be proposing to their girlfriends at ball games and shiz. And y'all can really nerd it out! Congratulations and I hope this is framed and hanging in your home!

We do! :D Can't complain about the sights here, for sure. Even in my small country of Belgium, there are so many cool medieval (and earlier) points of interest. And it will be soon - in our shared office, but we are renovating! :)

That place is gorgeous. No sand anywhere. I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.

My wife hadn't immediately recognized the spot, so that's how I started off my proposal to her! :D

I hope you used some of those George Lucas lines to woo her.
