DescriptionIt wasn't my goal to pick up another page at Heroes Comic Con in Brussels, but when flipping through Ramon Bachs' folder, I spotted this great opening page from a "What If" story published at Marvel this year.Written by the great Gerry Conway, the writer returns to his most famous story: The Night Gwen Stacy Died. However, this time, it's not Gwen, but Peter who dies in a battle with the Green Goblin. The first dynamic panel shows Peter leaping towards a falling Gwen, where history is different from the 616 Universe. There's no *SNAP*, as Spider-Man manages to catch his first love. While he swings under the bridge, the Goblin retaliates & Peter's Spidey Sense goes off. As a Spidey fan, this piece of alternative history was too good to pass up on. The page features two layers of pencils, original inks & Ramon's signature. Social/Sharing |

This revisit of the classic scene doesn't come around often in comics much less in original art. Having Conway involved lends it even greater authenticity with Bachs compressing the retelling on one page!

Exactly my thoughts when I saw this page in his portfolio!

Nice page, Killian- so many things we want from a Spidey page, and the added benefit of the Gwen and Goblin homage. Love how spidey's figure guides the eye down the right-hand panels.

Thanks so much, Casey! I feel very blessed. I won't ever own a page from the original storyline, but this is as good as it gets. A beautiful homage by a great artist.
