It still pains me to think that Tim Sale won't grace this world anymore with any of his art. In the back of my mind, I always had this dream of commissioning Tim to do a "Spider-Man: Blue" piece. While I'm extremely lucky to have an amazing Gwen by Tim from years ago, I never had the chance to get a Mary Jane - as drawn by one of the best to ever do it.

Enter Keith Browning, who I saw on Instagram a while ago and who got on my wish list quite quickly. He loved the idea of doing an homage to the "Blue" storyline, one of my all-time favorites. I immediately sent Keith some references of the Jeph Loeb written comic and Keith went to work.

He created a gorgeous and sensual pin-up, a true poster/cover quality commission, which embraced that retro design of the 60s. Add a title and a cast, and this would have made an amazing movie poster. Mary Jane, carelessly dancing, with Gwen consciously joining her and looking over her shoulder.

At the bottom, there's Spidey looking at the loves of his life. Both MJ and Gwen's outfits were of course designed by Tim Sale. The eagle-eyed viewer may notice this being an homage to Tim's cover for the fifth issue of "Blue".

This size of this masterpiece is 11x17, a bit bigger, and this was done in pencils and inks.

Makes me think back to the JRJR books and the fun lovin' MJ of the time probably convincing Gwen to go have some fun with her :) Great piece, Killian, congrats!
