Description

My very first at home commission, ordered back in January 2017 & shipped a few weeks later, by the amazing Steven Butler! Unknowingly to him, Steven left a big impression on me.

My very first (Dutch) comics were translations of "Web of Spider-Man" #128, and #118. The cover of "Web of Spider-Man" #128 - my very first comic - has always stayed with me - same with the "Web of" #118 story which I devoured over and over and over. An actual origin story? In the comic I'm holding?

That and the attention grabbing, muscle-bound superheroics in Steven's art (with a grotesque Venom, too) just made me look at those few comics I had back then and say: I need more of this.

Steven was touched by my story and suggested to do an homage to his #128 cover. The question on the original cover is: who gets the webs - Spider-Man or Scarlet Spider? And Steven answered that with my piece for me. The original "Web of" #128 is from the year I was born, too. So it all just made sense.

Size is a whopping 11x17.

Great SS by Butler! Takes me back to those Web books he worked on as one of the first artists to depect the stories of Ben Reilly as the SS! Congrats!

I got lucky twice, because not only did I get this piece, but those stories you are talking about, were my very first comics ever! But only read them in 2005 or so - although they still held up for this 10 year old kid, back then.
