DescriptionAt a show in Paris in April 2024, I had the time to catch up with Spanish super star Iban Coello about his work and a bigger commission he'd been working on for me. Discussing all those things, I spotted his commission list, which was full.I mentioned my idea of having Ben Reilly being taken over by Carnage, and Iban loved tackling that concept. He put some great work into it and added it to my package when he shipped the earlier commission. A tormented and sinister Ben - almost smiling, somewhat enjoying losing his control to Carnage. Ben Reilly's never had an easy life. Being on the run and never having the support system that Peter had. So, those "Amazing Spider-Man" issues where he gave in and got controlled by Carnage, seemed almost logical. They were always really cool to (re)read when I was younger. Happy that Iban made me relive those emotions. The marker work and shading on Ben's face is particularly excellent on this one, while the black speed lines add a bit of movement to this dark portrait. The commission was done on A4 paper, in pencils, inks and with markers. Social/Sharing |

Fun, the spreading of the half mask is really well done.

Yes! Looks very fluid and natural. But Iban's had some experience with Marvel's symbiotes, of course.
