Description

Julian Totino Tedesco was my secondary reason for the trip over to Dutch Comic Con in the Netherlands this weekend. I'm a big fan of his imaginative & vintage style, as well as his focus on the smaller moments in his cover work. For instance, that Amazing Spider-Man cover, with Spidey swinging through New York with an equal amount of focus on the regular people: that's what I like.

I had also been trying for a few years to get ahold of him, but with no success. Dutch Comic Con seemed like a nice moment to meet him in my relative neighborhood.

Luckily, I was first at his table & on his list, but unfortunately, he was only doing pencil & ink head sketches at the show. Honestly, I was a bit hesitant as I did not feel like this would do too much justice to what I adored about his work.

The end result was this fun sketch, which might not highlight his best qualities, but is still a fun memento nonetheless! And for those eager to meet him: Julian was very friendly & his panel was fun, too!
