Description

There's few (and fewer) moments when a commission does not just hit the mark, but also overshoots it by a mile. This Luke Skywalker piece by Phil Noto done at Heroes Comic Con last weekend did exactly that.

I had been mailing with Phil on and off since the summer months to enquire for a new commission. At Dutch Comic Con a few years ago, he did a Gwen for me, but due to his (and my) strong liking for Star Wars, I wanted something in that direction.

While his official commission examples are nothing of this sort, I told him a story, gave him some context & explained my dream idea. A Rebellion "World War II-era" propaganda-style poster with everyone's favorite moisture farmer & Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker.

I'm fairly sure this was his only real commission done on the first day, and Phil definitely took his time with this one. I'm quite sure he also worked on this in the green room, away from his table.

This Luke Skywalker is the perfect mix between "Mark Hamill" & "Phil Noto", and features a rich amount of details, wrinkles and "rebel grit". Exactly what I was hoping for!

This waist-up piece was done in black & white ink, as well as prismacolor on gray toned paper. Size is 11x14.

Sweet Noto art that has his fine pencil artwork defining the look and texture within the outline. It has a great graphic design like an old west wanted poster and as a propaganda poster.
