When I got a Kickstarter reward from Farel's Crowdfundr project, 20202020 book by Farel Dal, it included this surprise drawing.

I thought it might be a mistake and wrote to him asking if I owed him some money and who the character was and mentioned that he looked like Swamp Thing's cousin (yeah, I'm more of a DC guy so ST and not Man-Thing). He wrote back:

I included a little original drawing with every copy of the book as a thank you. I planned on drawing IN the books but that cover was too awkward so I did it on a separate paper. It had nothing to do with the commission or anything, just an extra thing for fun. That swamp guy is sort of a swamp thing but yeah you are right more of his cousin than a direct interpretation. I mostly have been drawing characters from my books for those but I think I just got bored and decided to do a swamp creature, it was just random that it happened to be in your book.

So, freebie! I've enjoyed Farel's work for quite some time and have a few pieces (2 sketches and a remarque) by him. There's a commission coming as part of the Crowdfundr project.

That's a wonderful piece, my friend. I dig Farel's rambling line work in pieces like this. As always, he is a generous soul. Congrats Alex!
