King Thor vs. Gorr & Queen Thor vs. Mangog by Eranga Devasurendra, 22x17"

Back in February when the Instagram #battleofthesketches featured Jane Foster, Ken Knudtsen did an amazing piece that I loved. Ken had described that piece as "Everything about Thor's costume screams to be exaggerated. Cape? NO ITS A BIG CAPE AND NOW WITH 100% MORE FUR! Also, let's make the armor extra pointy and have fun with highlights." Reading that description and seeing that piece, I couldn't get the thought of a Queen Thor/Old Lady Jane out of my head. So it sat there for months, until I finally told Eranga about it and we started scheming.

As I read back through Jason Aaron's Thor run recently, the idea came to me to have a piece with both King Thor and Queen Thor, and then the idea of having them fight key antagonists from Aaron's run popped into my head. Gorr was an obvious choice for Thor Odinson, as his arc in Thor: God of Thunder is one of my favorite villain tales of all time, and his reappearance in King Thor was awesome. On the other side, it took me a while to settle on Mangog for Queen Thor, but even though he only appeared in a few issues, his impact on Jane was huge. And there are so many alternate realities in the Marvel Universe, I'm sure there's one where Jane never puts down the hammer or later picks up a different version of Mjolnir and continues on as the Goddess of Thunder!
