It's about mood and attitude as much as linework on this piece. The red color represents his anger, the black color that represents his soul, the skull that just as scarred up as his face, and the deep lines on his face to express his lack of hope, McKone's artwork shows us that this is what it means to truly embrace being the Punisher.
